With spring just about over and summer coming down on us hard it was only natural that we would be looking at things around the house that need taking care of. The yard needed raking and we should probably do something about that tree we had in the back yard as the leaves are nothing short of a nightmare to deal with. Our next door neighbor owned a pool that they managed to keep clean from leaves, but unless we had the time to protect our hot tub we would need to invest in a hot tub cover.

It was previously suggested that we remove the tree and allow some sunlight to take over the back yard however the tree actually serves to keep much of the heat away from the house and assists in a lower monthly utility bill. The only downfall to the huge monstrosity was the leaves that it was forever shedding in the back yard and in our prized hot tub. I guess when a hot tub cover was suggested when we put in the tub we should have jumped at the opportunity.

As far as hot tubs go we had originally thought about installing an in-ground pool but as fate would have it our tree and other foliage simply took up too much space so a pool was out of the question. After being invited to a friends house last summer we were introduced to their hot tub and we were immediately sold on the idea. Our friends home did not have any trees covering their hot tub so a hot tub cover was not needed, in fact they were the ones that suggested we remove our tree before installing our own tub.

After spending a glorious day at our friends home and enjoying some of the benefits of their hot tub we prodded them as to what such a pleasure would cost us along with how difficult it would be to install. It all seemed relatively easy and in fact our friend Tom offered to come along with us to the same outlet they used so that we could pick out our very own hot tub.

When a salesman asks you where you live and where you plan on installing your hot tub you need to understand that there is a reason for these questions as he is simply trying to ensure that you are a satisfied customer. After we gave him the details he immediately suggested that we purchase a hot tub cover with our new tub if only to protect it from the elements, which in this case was primarily the leaves from the tree in our back yard.

Although the hot tub did not break us financially the additional cost of a hot tub cover would have increased our monthly bill (which we financed) so not realizing the importance of the suggestion we chose to ignore it all together. Now that we are getting ready to deal with our first total summer with our hot tub we must now look for the additional funds to purchase a hot tub cover. Thank goodness they are not too expensive otherwise we would constantly be cleaning leaves from the tub.
